The path of ascension

Torrential sheets of tears
run in concert
with
the memories
of you –

who told me
not to fold –

keep the faith –
make the Earth shake.

Those tattered confines
of self
in the aftermath
of the hour
I feared –
come to pass.

Eyes swollen –
lungs raw
collapsing
into the pit –

those smoldering
confines of grief –

as tears that

burn skin turn
curses to blessings.

Doubled over

accepting defeat

my heart creased –

soul hollowed

on that barren path.

I resolved to follow

calling out

wanting to be

where you are –

when your spirit

filled me

with my mandate

your whispers

vanquishing my sorrow

drying my tears

serving as

my compass

advising me that

you weren’t far –

for

I am where

I need to be

your seed

on this Earth

your name

not to be besmirched

finding our people

power in numbers

until I too slumber.

Redemption offered
in the ashes –

rejecting the poison
of my selfishness.

Wanting you here –
instead your taking
residency in
the empyrean heights –

no acquiescence

for the worthy.

Understanding
that these paths
are not walked alone –

those dedications
rendered without hesitation.

My Father –
who instructed me to
wield words like swords
playing in fields
that are uneven

regardless of season.

Your love serves
as my shielding
unyielding –
until we meet again.
