The frequencies of poetry

Poetry is a frequency
that some can see
with unflinching clarity
converting it from
the energy around
them in the
concussive frequencies of
speech and word –

that is delivered
through pages
or amoled screens…

to live throughout the ages

like Wheatley, Poe, Thoreau and Baldwin
who continue to live on

through their sonnets
and prose…

I never intended
to become
a poet
who was oft quoted
and purported
to heal others
via prose and stories,
but those best laid plans
are known to
laugh at the
dumbassery of us.

Now… that you got
these words in this
message –
now get your ass up
and give your burdens
the fisticuffs.
