When they say… woke

Willful obfuscation
of knowledge
and education…

the evil and misled
plead the fifth
for their transgressions,
no release
on recognizance
as the temple
is overrun
by hordes and vandals
who glad hand
each other
for their good fortune
as they reach
for the quiver
of inhumanity –

shouting fire in the theater
making up stories
atrociously…
molesters, tax cheats
and blasphemers
flow like raging tides
as the chosen
can’t surmise
if the Almighty
hears their cries…

but the Elders declared
that justice is coming…

listen for humming
by way of the trumpets 🎺

because if you are
woke willfully
to wisdom…
they will choke.

The names of several of my Ancestors are engraved on the African-American Civil War Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C, they fought to save a union, that ironically, many fools could NOT pass a civics test on.
