On hearts and knees

Heavy hearts and knees that bend

often orbit those difficult truths

that we cower from.

 

I bore witness

to a difficult epiphany –

when I realized that I

was renting my purpose

instead of owning it.

 

And…

 

I decided to stand up

with my outstretched hands

to claim that

which was stored up for me.
