To remain sleep

The most insidious threat
to our humanity
is the contention
that we are
to remain sleep…
blissfully in ignorance
blinded to the light…
as the nefarious
fear wisdom
Lord knows that
ain’t right –
fight for that
right to be
enlightened –
to righten
the boat…
not to sink
like a fool
drowning in
the brackish depths
as the
deaf, dumb and blind
are made…
not refined.
