Poets note: Projection is often known as the loudest and the most covert form of confession (this piece is inspired by real life).
The party
of law and order,
reborn in a form
in shades of orange…
where they spit venom
at those who will
not worship
the deity,
they pay no heed
to contradiction…
employing word salad
to comprehensive questions
about policy
and to what
is said
in their voice,
even it is recorded,
said on TV or
written by way
of grimy fingers
to be transmitted
on screens to
millions,
including minions
of the nefarious leader
who inhabit the realm of
conformity and cornball behavior
while holding
in their buttocks…
this nonsense must
stop…
if uncomfortable truths
mean that it is a
world consisting
without me
in it…
You certainly won’t be winning that discussion.
I’ve watched from afar
as Reagan stood
defiantly on ground
in 1980, Neshoba County…
where
three Civil Rights workers
gave
their lives
as they surmised
that humanity
was on ballot,
while championed as
a hero
of states rights,
but it was
a darker metaphor
of what was
to come.
