The long walk

I’ve been asked on occasion.

Where do you go?
Where are you?
Where are these places?
Why do you go?

But, the most resilient question that I field comes in many incarnations.

What are you looking for?

I’m looking for what many people endeavor to find, but are oblivious to the specifics, even as their soul cries out for it.

I’m searching for God’s face.

Over the course of my life, I’ve come to realize that this is a walk that must be taken alone.

As this journey does not lend itself to company.

I’m learning to accept that the revelations of my life may not be on frequency of others – as my shouts to the contrary fall on deaf ears.

So I walk in the valleys of my thoughts, pursued by my shortcomings, navigating streams of consciousness.

As we all do, alone.
Trying to make sense of it all along the way.
As I search for God’s face.
