Being like the water

When I come to the water, the sounds are therapeutic, drowning out that which could burden.

I liken the sounds to lectures of an ethereal variety.

Understanding the lessons gleaned from spending time lost, wandering on paths of futility.

Asking the question that begs to be answered…

Why do we endlessly contort ourselves in an effort to have others figure us out – when we don’t give ourselves the same courtesy of figuring ourselves out?

I’ve learned that the water doesn’t waste its time figuring out the rock, instead the water flows purposely and that which lies in its path is changed.

The water carves the rock…

I have to remind myself to be like the water.

Considering that the human body is approximately 50% to 75% water, why should that be an impossible task?

    Beautifully put. We don’t want to understand our own selves. I believe many of us are afraid of who we THINK that we are or who we THINK we are becoming. I also think that we contort ourselves to have others figure out only that part of us that we like. There’s always that part we keep hidden, or try to keep hidden. It’s like the words to an old Billy Joel song, The Stranger: “We all have a face
    That we hide away forever; And we take it out and show ourselves when everyone has gone;
    Some are satin, some are steel, some are silk and some are leather. They’re the faces of a stranger
    But we’d love to try them on.” we are a stranger not only to others, but often to ourselves as well.
