Life sentence on Earth

You’ve got
to be ambidextrous
about surviving,
I surmise
serving a life sentence
on Earth,
these battlegrounds
of mortal combat,
as I resolve
to attack
with a metaphorical
repulsion of  the literary,
a bombardment
of intellectual
frequencies
waging battle against
the tendrils
of the structure
that said
to me… as Black boy
that I was
less than,
that would never stand
projectiles flung from
those wielding
inferiority complexes
institutions commandeered
by the nefarious, unhinged
and uneloquent
telling fables
to the foolish –
compelling them
to spit in the grace
of their brethen
and compel
them to taste the
pungent swill.
On this is the
foundation to build?
The speck in your eye
is not only causing blindness
but madness,
believe me...
