A soliloquy for my Mother on her birthday

Gratitude is like energy, in that it cannot be destroyed, it merely takes on different forms. When I think of my Mother, I think of inexhaustible source of gratitude.

For teaching me what unselfishness, unconditional love and clarity of purpose is. For showing me that being true to myself and understanding that a cheering section can often get in the way. For believing in me when logic would dictate that the bridge to me should not only be burned, but imploded. You were often the ONLY cheerleader I had and that was always more than enough.

Words are inconsequential and unworthy in conveying what I feel. I am you and nothing without you, I am because you were.

This missive is for Mother as I wish her the happiest of birthday’s today.

I love you Momma.
