A live reading of: This brown don’t bend
Near a body of water or shortly after waking is usually when the veil is thinnest, where I am apt to pen it.
Now. In this instance – the creative process… struck and I penned this piece early Saturday morning shortly after waking. Truth be told, this was the response in my spirit after reading about a politician denigrating the contributions of African Americans… “wokeness” they said.
Music credit:
I read this piece in concert with the legendary… the late Wes Montgomery on the strings (When we were young).
A visual of what served to inspire this piece: My son fronting a band; a crowd matching in New Orleans that I stopped to watch; the countenances of brotherhood, family and some of my Ancestors who are in the historic record.
